City West Water

Stormwater Harvesting Partnering Fund

The fund is one of the ways we’re partnering to benefit our community and we’re seeking impactful projects to improve liveability.

Funding of $100,000 and up to $1 million per project is available. Applicants must at least match City West Water for every dollar contributed.

We look forward to working hand-in-hand with likeminded organisations to foster a greener west .

During 2018 we launched round one of our Stormwater Harvesting Partnering Fund. We continue to partner with councils within our service area to deliver stormwater harvesting projects to irrigate public open space.

To date we have six storm water harvesting projects in operation supplying up to 285 million litres of stormwater per year for irrigation of sports grounds and public open spaces.

Round One Stormwater Harvesting Partnering Fund (2018)

In round one of the Stormwater Harvesting Partnering Fund City West Water co-funded a number of stormwater harvesting projects including Woodlands Park, partnering with Moonee Valley City Council.

Round 2 Stormwater Harvesting Partnering Fund (to be announced)

City West Water will be announcing the dates for the second round of the Stormwater Harvesting Partnering Fund soon.

Eligibility Criteria

Water for a greener west funding is for the construction of stormwater harvesting projects and projects that support liveability benefits.

If you answer ‘yes’ to these questions then we would readily consider an application from you:

  • Is the project within City West Water’s service area?
  • Is there commitment from City West Water, council and Melbourne Water to the ownership and maintenance of the projects assets?
  • Will the project deliver benefits to open space greening and waterways?
  • Do you have co-funding commitments from partners to at least match funding from City West Water on a dollar for dollar basis?
  • Do you have your organisation’s commitment to total accountability for managing the project?
  • Is the total funding sought from the fund equal or less than $1 million?

You will be able to apply for round two of the Stormwater Harvesting Partnering Fund via SmartyGrants.
