Media Release: Calling the next generation of water engineers
Based at either City West Water, Melbourne Water, Yarra Valley Water or South East Water, successful applicants will learn, grow and develop a whole-of-lifecycle view on how the water industry operates as a key factor in shaping Melbourne as the world’s most liveable city.
Each successful applicant will become part of their respective workforce of engineers, planners, surveyors and various environmental experts tackling the opportunities and challenges of the future.
Supported with flexible work arrangements and a focus on diversity and inclusion, the graduate cohort will also be provided with networking opportunities, mentoring and project experience across the water businesses.
City West Water Managing Director David Ryan said the 2019 Engineering Graduate Program is more than just work experience. “
Successful applicants will be given the opportunity to not only become fully immersed in both the projects and culture at City West Water, but will also be provided with ongoing networking opportunities and support to progress their careers following their two-year appointment.”
“At City West Water, we believe the workforce of the future should reflect the vibrancy and diversity of the customers and community that we serve, and the 2019 Graduate Program opens doors for new graduates to be part of this inclusive and forward way of thinking and working.”
Why work in the water industry?
The role of the Melbourne Metropolitan Water Industry is more than just pipes and pumps. As an industry dedicated to serving our customers and the natural environment, we invest in community programs, work strategically to enhance current infrastructure, strive to enhance liveability in all of its forms and look for new ways of shaping the future of water management. We do all this while maintaining the world-class water and sewerage services for our city and growing communities as we have done for more than 100 years.
What type of graduate is each business looking for?
The Metropolitan Melbourne Water Industry is seeking Engineering Graduates who have an energetic ‘can do’ attitude with a flexible approach to managing changing priorities in a fast paced environment. They will hold a tertiary qualification in Engineering and be committed to professional learning and self-development.
Engineering degrees, predominantly Civil, Mechanical, and Environmental will be particularly well suited to these roles.
