City West Water

Celebrating Cultural Diversity Week with A Day at the Zoo

Over 1,000 people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds have joined City West Water for the annual Day at the Zoo event.

The event, co-hosted by the Victorian Multicultural Commission, celebrates Cultural Diversity Week.

Members of English language classes across Melbourne were invited to attend the event, which included a barbecue lunch, and allowed people from a range of backgrounds to learn more about everything from saving water to what to do in an emergency.

Representatives attended the event from:

City West Water, Victorian Multicultural Commission, South East Water, Yarra Valley Water, State Emergency Services, Metropolitan Fire Brigade, Ambulance Victoria, Australian Federal Police, Energy and Water Ombudsman, Fisheries Victoria, Parks Victoria, Search and Rescue Dogs Australia, Victoria Police and the Essential Services Commission.

City West Water Managing Director, David Ryan said:

“City West Water services a diverse community across Melbourne and the West.  We are proud to host the Day at the Zoo event, as it allows us to engage with our customers and learn how we can better work together to achieve the best outcomes for our community.”

“It is also an opportunity for community members who may be vulnerable due to language or cultural barriers, to meet representatives from a range of service providers in a welcoming and supportive environment.”
