Cadetship to provide water industry experience

City West Water and Programmed Facility Management have announced a joint 12 week cadetship for school leavers who want to experience water industry operations in a practical, hands-on manner.

The successful applicants will have the opportunity to work alongside water industry professionals and learn hands-on how a large water and sewerage network like City West Water’s is maintained.

Cadets will learn competencies such as how to locate and protect pipes and mains through to supporting treatment plant operations and learning how to repair water mains and unblock waste water pipes.

The City West Water and Programmed cadetship is ideal for school leavers who want to experience a practical, hand-on career. Applicants don’t require any formal qualifications or certificates to apply for the cadetship. City West Water and Programmed are committed to attracting, engaging and retaining employees with different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives.

City West Water Managing Director David Ryan said the cadetship will provide successful applicants an opportunity to engage in their first step in the water industry.

“We’ve listened to our customers and community and we’re looking forward to providing this opportunity for school leavers and offering them exposure to the water sector.

“Our organisations are bringing cadetships into the future with a bite size length of 12 weeks - providing a practical, exciting and engaging first step into the industry.”

Programmed Maintenance Division CEO, Glenn Thompson said the joint cadetship provided a practical and exciting career opportunity.

“The joint Cadetship is only one of the many initiatives City West Water and Programmed will continue to champion to attract, develop and encourage retention of a diverse workforce.”

“We are excited to offer this opportunity and reach out to you-- our people, our customers and our community--to share this opportunity with your family members, your friends and your larger social networks to help us find these talented new cadets.”

At the end of the 12 weeks, the cadets can choose to commit to a full 24 month traineeship with Programmed Facilities Management in Water Industry Operations, gaining invaluable employment skills in a nationally accredited qualification.

Applications for the program close August 3, 2018. The application process is simple and will take less than 15 minutes.
