Mobile water fountains

Did you know that a litre of bottled water costs the same as 9,000 glasses of tap water?

There is the risk that there could be more plastic in the sea (by weight) than fish by 2050?

We want everyone to know the health benefits of staying hydrated, the environmental impact of single use plastic bottles and believe drinking water shouldn't cost the earth.

That's why we are pleased to provide free mobile water fountains for community events like charity gatherings or sports club events in our service area across Brimbank, Hobsons Bay, Maribyrnong, Melbourne (north of the Yarra River), Moonee Valley, Wyndham, Yarra and parts of Melton and Hume.

Our mobile water fountains come in two different sizes (small and large) and are mounted on a trailer so they are really simple to move and install.

Our mobile water fountains are free to eligible not-for-profit organisations

Not surprisingly though, our mobile water fountains are very popular. We get lots of applications and unfortunately can't accept them all.

We have made changes to the mobile water fountain application process starting from 1 July 2019

From 1 July 2019, mobile water fountain applications will be accepted across four rounds each year (July, October, January and April).

Round 1 (for events in October – December)

Applications will be accepted between 1 and 31 July. All applications for this round will be assessed during the first week of August for events in October, November and December. Applicants will be notified in the second week of August.

Round 2 (for events in January – March)

Applications will be accepted between 1 and 31 October. All applications for this round will be assessed during the first week of November for events in January, February and March. Applicants will be notified in the second week of November.

Round 3 (for events in April – June)

Applications will be accepted between 1 and 31 January. All applications for this round will be assessed during the first week of February for events in April, May and June. Applicants will be notified in the second week of February.

Round 4 (for events in July – September)

Applications will be accepted between 1 and 30 April. All applications for this round will be assessed during the first week of May for events in July, August and September. Applicants will be notified in the second week of May.

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for our mobile water fountains, your event must fit into at all of the following four criteria.

  1. Your event will be held in City West Water's service area.
  2. Your organisation has not-for-profit status.
  3. Your event will have an opportunity to educate participants on the value of water and how to use it wisely.
  4. Your event has a minimum of 2,500 participants.

How to apply

Apply online using the Mobile Water Fountain Application form. Complete all sections of the application or it will not be assessed.

    Remember, applications open in:

      • July for mobile water fountain requests from October – December.
      • October for mobile water fountain requests from January - March.
      • January for mobile water fountain requests from April - June.
      • April for mobile water fountain requests from July - September.
