City West Water’s 2019 Graduate Program

Finishing your university degree and joining the workforce is an exciting step in unlocking your potential. Our graduate program is designed to do just that. Over a two year rotation program we will immerse you in a range of experiences across City West Water.

With ongoing learning and dedicated support along the way, this is an amazing opportunity to begin your career with a water industry leader.

About our program

We’re offering two Engineering graduates roles over a two year rotation program. In which, we will immerse you in a range of experiences across City West Water.

The graduate program is aligned to a mindset of ongoing growth and learning – either in a classroom setting or practically speaking through hands on projects, with ongoing support from our Executive Leadership Team, Mentors, colleagues, and our Learning & Development team.

Important Dates

a. Application open and close:

  • Applications for our annual intake will open Monday 16 July 2018
  • Applications close midnight Sunday 12 August 2018

b. The screening process will take place on the following dates:

  • Shortlisting - week commencing 13 August 2018
  • Online Testing & Video Interviews – 16 August to 20 August 2018
  • Assessment Centres (Footscray) – the morning of the 4 September 2018
  • Behavioural Interviews - the afternoon of the 4 September 2018

c. Meet and Greet

  • In December 2018, we’ll be hosting a meet and greet onsite. This is great opportunity for you to meet with your colleagues, leaders and familiarise yourself with your new office and surroundings.

d. Start date

  • The City West Water 2019 Graduate Program commences on 29 January 2019.

The Recruitment Process

The following eligibility criteria applies to all graduates:

  • You will have completed your degree within 2 years of commencing the 2019 Graduate Program and be free to commence full time employment by January 2019.
  • You have (or will have) a degree/qualification as specified in the stream you are applying for.
  • You are an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or have Australian Permanent Resident (PR) status at the time of application.
  • You must be available to attend key stages of the recruitment process, in person, if required. Any associated travel costs are at your own expense.
  • To be eligible for the program you need to have completed your Undergraduate or Postgraduate study no more than three years prior (2016, 2017, and 2018) to the program start date of February 2019.
  • If you have chosen a location outside of your home State you will need to relocate for the role, at your own expense.

The online application stage will provide you with an opportunity to tell us more about yourself. You will be asked to submit your CV, cover letter and academic transcript, as well as answer a few short application questions.

It won’t take long, and you can save and return to your application at any time before submitting it to us.
Online applications for the 2019 graduate program will open 16 July 2018.

 

If your application is successful you’ll be asked to undertake some online testing that assesses your verbal, numerical and abstract reasoning skills. 

Following this test you may proceed to our Video Interview stage. This is all about discovering more about your interest in working with City West Water, and discovering more about your study and key capabilities. Knowing this also assists us later with placing you in the best business rotations. A representative from our partner Fusiongc will contact you to partake in a video interview. 

At this stage, you will be asked to attend one of our on-site assessment sessions at our head office in Footscray. During this session, we’ll ask you to work with others in a range of group and individual activities. We’ll take you on a tour of our facilities and you’ll get to meet some of our senior leaders. 

Following the assessment sessions and on the same day of the assessment centre preferred candidates will undertake a face-to-face interview. The interview gives us the opportunity to learn more about you and gives you the opportunity to learn more about us and the position. 

 If you are successful at the face to face interview stage, we will ask you to provide us details of one current referee and police checks.

 Upon the successful completion of a reference check, we will make you an offer over the phone and in writing.
