“I’m learning a wide variety of skills and look forward to learning more.”

“So far my experience with City West Water has been very interesting; I have really been enjoying it and looking forward to coming into work every day, its good having a group of cadets, doing the same work as me, as we all have our strong points and work to help each other out. Typically, a week as a technical officer cadet consists of learning, learning and more learning! The Technical Officer Development Program is a great way to start a career in water, not only do you get the diploma in engineering through school but you also get to learn about the water business through employees. The TODP is a great starting point for a career in the water industry.”

Shae Danskin, City West Water TODP Cadet

“The program has given me a whole new outlook on my career.”

“The experience so far has been a very enjoyable one. Over the past two months I have been given a brief run through of each different department. It’s a lot of information to take in, but all of it has been very exciting. Each day is a new challenge and experience. The program so far has had a lot of variety which is good, because I don’t find myself getting bored going over the same things each day. The course has been a mixture of schooling, gaining an understanding of the water business and field trips that give us a hands-on approach to learning. The TODP has been a great experience so far. Variety is the key to the program, learning something different every day of the week keeps me interested and entertained.”

Jacob Green, City West Water TODP Cadet

“I’ve learnt a lot so far and it’s been really exciting.”

“So far it has been a very interesting two months, with a fair amount of new information and new skills picked up along the way, plus a new appreciation for the water industry and our infrastructure. I have been very impressed with the professionalism and quality of City West Water staff and the organisation as a whole and extremely happy about receiving a uniform, PPE and books, utensils and other goodies. I have particularly enjoyed the AutoCAD and GIS stuff we have been doing. I have also really enjoyed the hands on stuff in the workshop at Vic Uni and the manual drawing and scaling sessions.”

Clint Grierson, City West Water TODP Cadet

“The classes are never dull and each day holds something different.”

“... every day holds something different. This keeps us all on our toes and helps to make each day interesting. I have found the experience so far to be very rewarding in this sense. Monotony is something I struggled with in my previous job, and to have my brain working overtime now is a thrill.”
