Backflow Prevention Coordinator

Duties and responsibilities

The main focus of this role is to ensure that City West Water complies with all current statutory requirements in order to protect our water supply. The role entails:

Backflow Prevention Coordinator
  • Development of workable Policies around Backflow Prevention
  • Development of appropriate tools and protocols to implement Policies
  • Updating current processes and procedures to reflect City West Water’s policies on Backflow Prevention
  • Providing timely and accurate reports on project progress and outcomes
  • Managing programs that assist customers to comply with our requirements
  • Conducting site inspections to provide direction to customers with the application and installation of appropriate Backflow devices
  • Being up to date with the latest information and changes to industry, products and statutory requirements
  • Assisting in the training of team members and employees with Backflow Prevention
  • Providing representation to industry groups promoting our policy on Backflow Prevention
  • Working with other water companies to ensure consistency in dealing with Backflow prevention
  • Liaising with the Plumbing Industry Commission to ensure compliance
  • Dealing with daily customer queries.

Meter Services Coordinator

This role has a greater focus on Metering/Meter reading, the Meter Services Contract and Billings. It contains a greater Contract Management and Project Management aspect to it to ensure:

  • Projects such as Meter Replacement Programs are carried out within the specified time frame and budget
  • Appropriate auditing strategies for contract compliance in the field as well as from a financial perspective
  • All properties are appropriately metered to comply with our requirements
  • Consistency with metering guidelines by working with other water companies
  • Continual competitive rates by exploring other market place prospects

A career as a Backflow Prevention Coordinator or Meter Services Coordinator can progress into areas of project management and management of small teams of contractors and City West Water employees.
