Engineers are an integral part of the water industry. Their experience and knowledge drives many of the existing and innovative projects at City West Water.

A program designed to develop the engineers of tomorrow

In 2005, we created a training and development program specifically for engineering graduates to help develop their careers in the water industry.

Consisting of formal training as well as on-the-job experience, the City West Water Technical Development Program provides engineering graduates with an opportunity to complete technical training and gain valuable work experience across various areas of our business, including:

  • Capital Works
  • Operations and Maintenance
  • Water Quality
  • Planning
  • Asset Information
  • Asset Performance
  • Standards and Design
  • Altona Treatment Plant

Initially the technical training lectures were run for our engineering employees only. They are now open to seven other water companies. And as at June 30, 2008 our program had delivered a total of 22 lectures to an audience of 120 engineers and technical staff.

A new award has also been introduced into the program to recognise and reward achievement in technical competence.
