Trade waste is wastewater generated as the result of commercial, trade, laboratory or industrial processes. It is typically wastewater generated from washing, cleaning or rinsing processes and may contain chemicals, fats or detergents.
To ensure the sewerage system continues to work effectively, we carefully monitor and manage the trade waste discharged into the sewer by our industrial and commercial customers.
Our trade waste team consists of operations staff and technical specialists who are focused on:
- protecting the health and safety of sewer workers and the community
- protecting wastewater treatment plant processes
- protecting the environment
- providing an opportunity for re-use of effluent and biosolids.
We work with the likes of Toyota, Nufarm, Mobil, local restaurants and many others and have in place over 6,000 trade waste agreements with industrial and commercial customers within our service area.
