Renting a Home

When you rent a home that has it's own water meter, you are responsible for paying the water usage and sewage disposal charges, which are charges for the water that you use.

Please call us on 131 691 at least 48 hours* before you move into your new rental property to ensure that you are only billed from the day that you move in.

Call us at least 48 hours* before you move out of your rental property to arrange for the water meter to be read on the day that you vacate.

* Please note that meters are read Monday - Friday only.

 

 

• I'm moving out of my rental property, what do I need to do with my water account?

  When you move out of a rental property, you need to arrange for a meter reading to be taken on the date that you leave. This ensures that you are only billed for water used up to the date that you left the property. Check with your Real Estate Agent as they may have contacted us on your behalf. If not, you should contact us on 131 691 at least 48 hours* before you move out. You can also provide us with your forwarding address and arrange for a new connection if you are moving to a new property within the City West Water area.

• I'm moving into a new rental property, what do I need to do with my water account?

  When you move into a new rental property, you need to arrange for a meter reading to be taken on the date that you move in. This ensures that you are only billed for water used from the date that you entered the property. Check with your Real Estate Agent as they may have contacted us on your behalf. If not, you should contact us on 131 691 at least 48 hours* before you move in.

• What if I receive a bill in someone else's name?

  If you receive a City West Water bill in someone else's name, please contact us on 131 691 to ensure that we have your correct details.  

• As a tenant, what water charges am I responsible for?

  Tenants in properties that have their own water meter are responsible for paying their water usage and sewage disposal charges. These charges are for water used at the property and are based on the water consumption recorded on the property's water meter.

• Who can add my details to my rental property's water bill?

  You should contact us to advise when you have moved into a new rental property. You may also give permission to your Real Estate Agent to contact us on your behalf.
