Maintaining Internal Plumbing

Property owners and City West Water are responsible for different parts of a property's plumbing fixtures and fittings.

Notice to Repair

City West Water may require the property owner to undertake maintenance of their water or sewerage pipes or services.

We may deliver a notice to a property owner requiring you to:

• repair faults on pipes/services which are the owner's responsbility
• maintain works on the property or disconnect the property from City West Water's system
• remedy a contravention of water law or a requirement made by City West Water under water law.

If you fail to comply with the time specified in the notice, we may take the action detailed in the notice and charge the property owner reasonable costs for which the owner is responsible.

If we have been notified that the property is occupied by a tenant, a copy of the notice will be forwarded to the tenant for information.

If you object to a decision made by us you may request us to review our decision. You can also have our decision reviewed by either the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) or the Energy and Water Ombudsman Victoria (EWOV).
