Looking After the Sewerage System
All water that goes down drains and toilets in your home is discharged to the sewerage system.
What Causes Sewerage Blockages?
There are several things that can cause sewerage blockages.
Tree Roots
Tree roots are the most common cause of sewerage blockages on private properties. Once tree roots find a fracture in a pipeline, tiny hair roots can grow and completely block the pipe. To reduce the chance of sewer blockages ocurring, avoid planting near sewer easements on your property.
Cooking Oil and Fats
Pouring cooking oils or fat down the sink can also cause blockages. Dry-wipe plates and cooking utensils to remove grease and oils before washing them or putting them in your dishwasher.
Building Next to or Over Easements
Building of structures over sewer access points or within sewer easements can also interfere with the sewerage service. It is important to know where City West Water pipes, connection and access points may be located before building any structures on your property. Please call us on 131 691 if you need information on where the connection points are located and call Casey Inspection Services for details of where your itnernal sewerage pipes are located.
