Exchange your showerhead at the Water Wise for Life kiosk
Our Water Wise for Life kiosk travels to shopping centres in our service area to offer showerhead exchanges and educate the community about saving water. Check the schedule for upcoming locations.
Why swap and save?
Did you know that showers typically use about 30% of a household’s water use? By changing over to a water efficient showerhead, you can save around a third of this water use and reduce your total household water use by 6-7%. Save money, energy AND WATER! A typical inefficient showerhead uses approximately 20 litres of water per minute. The latest water efficient showerheads use as little as 9 litres per minute – an immediate saving of 11 litres per minute. Keeping your shower time under 4 minutes helps reduce water and energy bills too!
What you need to bring?
When you come to a City West Water “swap and save” location you will need to bring:
- your old showerhead,
- your completed showerhead exchange form (Exchange Form [PDF 39KB]), and
- your City West Water bill.
What happens to my old showerhead?
The old showerheads are collected and recycled for scrap metal. The proceeds from the scrap metal recycling are then given to a local charity in our service area.
What showerhead will I get?
City West Water is offering Flexispray Bemuda II Hi-Rise showerheads in chrome and white.
These showerheads meet the three star Water Efficient Labelling Scheme standard (WELS) and have been engineered to ensure a forceful shower spray, while maintaining consistent low water consumption.
The Flexispray Bermuda II Hi-Rise has three functions including full coverage down to a lighter coverage for a finer sharper shower. There is also a thumb-controlled ‘trickle’ valve. The showerhead has a height adjustable hi rise arm.
This particular model retails at around $34 at most hardware and DIY stores. The Flexispray Bermuda II Hi-Rise was rated second for overall “satisfaction” in a recent CHOICE magazine trial of water efficient showerheads. The test rated the following elements:
- Effectiveness at wetting the body and hair
- Effectiveness at removing soap and shampoo
- The amount of coverage of water over the body
- The feel of the spray
- Ease of adjustment of temperature and spray settings
- Overall satisfaction
Water Savings
All Flexispray showerheads use a maximum of 9 litres of water per minute.
