Partnership to transform Upper Stony Creek
The project will see a concrete lined drainage channel turned into a waterway and wetland for residents to enjoy.
Greening the West projects are a collaborative effort driven by the program’s partners.
The Upper Stony Creek transformation is being undertaken by City West Water, Melbourne Water, Brimbank City Council, the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning, Places Victoria and Greenfleet. The State and Federal government have also provided funding.
Greening the West was initiated by City West Water in 2011 to improve the health and wellbeing of residents.
The Greening the West Strategic Plan was released in 2013 and includes commitments to double the canopy cover of Melbourne’s west, increase green space by 25 per cent and increase alternative water supply to open space.
Since 2011, Greening the West has grown from 17 partner organisations to 23 including local councils, water authorities, government agencies, and industry and community representatives.
