Water main works will soon be underway in Truganina, building new mains to service the fast growing area.

Works will begin on Sayers and Palmers Roads, Truganina, on 30 April 2012, involving construction of a large water distribution main.

The works are part of major water supply works needed to cater for growth in Truganina and Point Cook. Works will take place during the day and will result in changed traffic conditions, detailed below and in this road map.

Palmers Road
Work will start on a 400m section of Palmers Road north of Sayers Road on 30 April and take up to 10 weeks. Palmers Road will be closed between Sayers and Leakes Roads during this time. Residents living in the closed section of Palmers Road will have access to their properties.

Sayers/Palmers Road intersection
Work will start at the intersection on 30 April and take up to four weeks. During this time:

  • westbound traffic on Sayers Road will be diverted onto the service lane, bypassing the intersection before returning to Sayers Road. Minor works will be carried out on the service lane beforehand to make it suitable for the diversion
  • eastbound traffic on Sayers Road will be maintained but delays may be experienced
  • traffic on Sayers Road will not be able to turn into Palmers Road
  • vehicles will not be able to park on the service lane closest to the intersection.

City West Water urges motorists to seek alternative routes where possible to avoid the work areas, especially if they want to access Palmers Road north of Leakes Road.

Once these works are complete, remaining work on the project will include Palmers Road north to Dohertys Road and south to the Lawrie Emmins Reserve. Sayers and Palmers Roads will be open as normal during these works.
