The Grattan Street and Flemington Road water main renewal project has been extended to include renewal of a large water main in Wreckyn Street between Flemington Road and Courtney Street.

This water main is of the same vintage as the Grattan Street main and its renewal was brought forward so all the works are completed at one time rather than having to return in a few years' time.

The existing water main is over 126 years old and requires renewal to ensure continued reliable water supply to residents and businesses in the area.

Due to the extension in scope, the works will now be completed by 16 December 2016.

Working hours will be as follows:

  • Flemington Road: 7.30pm to 6am, Sunday to Thursday
  • Wreckyn Street: 7:30am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 6pm Saturdays

The works will involve digging up the road pavement in Flemington Road, Grattan Street and Wreckyn Street. There will be some noise from the works during this time.

Traffic management will be in place. Vehicle and pedestrian access will be maintained at all times and water supply will not be interrupted during the works.

One bus stop (route 401 and 402 stopping at the Royal Melbourne Hospital/Royal Women’s Hospital) will be temporarily relocated for a short period of time.

Public transport will otherwise not be affected. We appreciate your patience as we work to improve the reliability of water supply to our customers, while aiming to keep disruptions to a minimum.
