Stormwater Interactive Model
City West Water provides free visits of Melbourne Water's Stormwater Interactive Model to your school.
The Stormwater Interactive Model is an educational model of an urban catchment that demonstrates the impact of stormwater on our rivers, creeks and bays.
How does the model work?
Materials representing common pollutants are placed onto the scale model.
A rainstorm is simulated. The water flows over the landscape, picking up pollutants along the way. These pollutants are washed into our rivers and creeks, and eventually into our bay.
The model is 1.5 by 2.4 metres in size. It is transported to your school or event via a trailer. One of our education officers will deliver an education program tailored to suit the outcomes of your unit or event. Sessions are typically 30mins to 45mins.
Other Presentations
City West Water can provide presentations on various aspects of water use and treatment and can be adapted to the needs of students. Topics may include:
- the water cycle
- water use and water conservation
- impacts on water supply
- alternative water supplies
- water treatment.
A limited number of incursions are available every year. For more information please contact the Education Officer by email at education@citywestwater.com.au.
