Tips to Save Water

Garden and Outdoors

  • If you use mulch on your garden beds you'll save up to 73% of the water that normally evaporates after mulching don't water your garden as much, or you'll drown your plants
  • To stop water evaporating before it reaches your plants roots, water in the early morning or late evening.

Bathroom

  • Save over 21,000 litres of water per person per year when showering by installing a triple A shower head. (which will not reduce shower quality!)
  • Turning off the tap while you brush your teeth can save up to five litres of water each time.

Kitchen

  • Put the plug in the sink and don't let the water run when rinsing fruit, veggies or dishes
  • Fill the kettle with only as much water as you need to save on water and energy.

Laundry

  • Wait until you have a full load of washing before putting the machine on.
  • When hand washing clothing save water by waiting until you have a few items to do and use a bucket so that the rinse water can go on the garden.
