Research and Development Opportunities
City West Water offers business customers registered with our waterMAP program the opportunity to become involved in research and development projects which can lead to improvements in resource efficiency.
If you would like to further investigate a research opportunity at your business the following opportunities are available to you:
Student projects
City West Water has partnerships with a number of Melbourne’s leading universities to help you undertake research for your site. Research projects range from short undergraduate projects to full PhD’s.
Consultancy investigations
City West Water can assist in financing and facilitating consultant investigations to identify and quantify opportunities that will improve resource use efficiency.
Pilot novel technologies
Grants funding is available to assist businesses registered with our waterMAP program to pilot novel measures to improve efficiency of water usage and reduce trade waste.
Research and development funding
To support research projects with wide industry applicability through Victoria, City West Water contributes to the Smart Water Fund.
To apply for Research and Development Assistance
If you are interested in participating in Research and Development contact your WaterMAP consultant to discuss the options. You can also download and complete the Research and Development application form, then email it to: watermap@citywestwater.com.au.
Projects will be considered if they are closely aligned with the key focus areas of City West Water, our business customers and affiliated research institutions. We would be happy to assist you with projects that expand knowledge and remove barriers to improvement in the following key areas:
- Water efficiency
- Energy efficiency
- Salt reduction
- Critical pollutant reduction (eg. Mercury, sodium, cadmium)
- Onsite recycling
- Using waste to generate energy
- Industrial ecology
