Programs for Saving Water and Energy

Programs and Assistance

City West Water has a number of programs to assist our industrial, commercial and institutional customers to save water and energy.

Woking the Way to Water Savings

The Woking the Way to Water Savings program was designed to help Asian-style restaurants, providing them with the knowledge and resources to improve water efficiency in their kitchens.

Asian-style restaurants typically use 2-4 times more water than other styles of kitchens. Commercial wok stoves and steamers are an important part of cooking in an Asian kitchen and use about 50-75 per cent of the total water used in the restaurant.

Woking the Way to Water Savings promotes:

  • behavioural change
  • monitoring of water use
  • improving cleaning and maintenance practices
  • equipment modifications
  • equipment replacements, such as replacing conventional wok stoves with waterless wok stoves.

Woking the Way to Water Savings fact sheets are available in English, Chinese and Vietnamese. For more information on the program, please contact Kirsty Harding on (03) 9313 8724.
