Water wise tips should be at the top of shoppers’ lists this month as City West Water sets up shop at Werribee Plaza.
Managing Director, Anne Barker, said the new Water Wise for Life kiosk was a great way to help customers find more ways to save water in their every day lives.
“With climate change a reality we shouldn’t just save water during restrictions, we hope our kiosk will encourage people to be water-wise for life,” Ms Barker said.
The kiosk gives shoppers the chance to tour key areas of the home – the bathroom, kitchen, garden and laundry – with ‘hands on’ displays showing simple ways to save water.
Shoppers can pick up tips on how to check if a toilet is leaking, suitable uses for grey water and how to keep their garden healthy during the summer months. Information will also be available on claiming government rebates.
The kiosk also offers City West Water customers the chance to swap their old, inefficient showerheads for free, three star water efficient ones, saving up to 13,500 litres per person every year. They just need to bring along their bill and old showerheads.
Ms Barker said City West Water wanted to get out into the community, and having the kiosk at Werribee Plaza was a great way to do just that.
“Everyone is doing a fantastic job saving water but, with the continuing drought, it is vital we all remain mindful about how we use water,” Ms Barker said.
“Wyndham residents have been great supporters of past showerhead exchange events. They have swapped more than 5,300 showerheads in the last two years, saving more than 70 million litres of water each year.
“We’d also like to thank Werribee Plaza for their great support. They’ve really got behind this important community initiative.”
The Water Wise For Life kiosk was launched earlier this year and has visited Highpoint and Watergardens shopping centres, where it swapped more than three thousand inefficient showerheads, which would save enough water to fill 36 Olympic sized swimming pools.
The Water Wise for Life kiosk will be at Werribee Plaza, near Australia Post until Sunday 13 April.
