Showered with chances to save water in Sunshine

11 April 2008

City West Water is giving its neighbours the chance to pick up water saving tips when its Water Wise for Life kiosk returns to the company’s head office on St Albans Road, Sunshine, next Saturday 19 April between 8:30am and 2pm.

The kiosk has been travelling around major shopping centres in the westerns suburbs since it was launched early this year. It gives people a tour of key areas of the home – the bathroom, kitchen, garden and laundry – with ‘hands on’ displays showing simple ways to save water.

The kiosk also offers customers the chance to swap their old, inefficient showerheads for free, 3-star water efficient ones, saving up to 13,500 litres per person every year. They just need to bring along their bill and old showerheads.

Swapping to a more efficient showerhead doesn’t just benefit the environment, it will help the community too with the proceeds from the recycled scrap metal from the old showerheads donated to Sunshine Hospital.

To add to the fun, City West Water’s mascot, Wilbur the Waterdrop will also pop in for a visit.

Managing Director, Anne Barker, said the day would be a great chance for local residents to come along and meet City West Water staff.

“We’ve had an overwhelming response in support of the Water Wise for Life kiosk from our community, so we’re pleased to bring it to Sunshine to meet some of our closest customers,” Ms Barker said.

“Sunshine residents have always got behind our past showerhead exchange events, so I’m sure plenty of people will come along to make the most of the convenient location.

“Changing your showerhead is just one of the many small ways people can make a big difference, and the Water Wise for Life kiosk has plenty of other ideas on how to save water,” Ms Barker said.
