City West Water has joined forces with South East Water and Yarra Valley Water to make it easy for customers to exchange their old showerhead for a free three star water efficient model.
From 7am until 2pm on Tuesday 14 August, the three water companies will converge on Federation Square to hold a joint event - Swap and Save @ the Square.
City West Water Managing Director Anne Barker said, “Whether you are on your way to work, shopping or even on a break, this is a fantastic opportunity to make a difference and help us help you save water.”
The three star water efficient models will allow households to save up to 12,000 litres of water each year as well as money off their water and energy bills.
“Despite the recent heavy rain, it is still vital that Melburnians do what they can to save water. Swapping to a more efficient showerhead is one of the easiest ways to start taking control,” Ms Barker said.
“This free exchange is a chance for our community to play an active role in confronting the water problem. We can make a difference if we act together. If 80 local residents exchanged their showerheads, they would save enough water to fill an Olympic sized pool every year.”
People who swap their showerhead on the day will go in the draw to win a home water saver package, including a rain water tank, a water efficient washing machine and water audit of their home.
Old showerheads will be recycled into scrap metal and proceeds will go to charity.
What you need to bring:
- Your old showerhead to exchange
- Your water bill
- A showerhead exchange form (available from our website or on the day)
