Supporters of the Carlton Football Club will have the chance to swap their showerhead and save water when the club holds a showerhead exchange as part of the Hyundai Blues Family Day.
The free exchange will take place on Sunday February 10 between 10.30am – 4pm at MC Labour Park (Princes Park). The day is free for Carlton members.
City West Water’s acting Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Gardiner said that as a sporting club, Carlton Football Club were well aware of the effects of the drought and the need to save water.
“Carlton Football Club has been working with us and this has lead to some great initiatives such as exchanging inefficient showerheads for water efficient ones and investigating options for rain water collection and waterless urinals at MC Labour Park,” Mr Gardiner said.
“The Hyundai Blues Family Day provides a fantastic opportunity to exchange your showerhead for a three star water efficient model and make a difference.”
The three star water efficient models will allow households to save up to 13,500 litres of water per person each year as well as money off their water and energy bills.
“With such a hot summer, it is vital that Melburnians do what they can to save water. Swapping to a more efficient showerhead is one of the easiest ways to help,” Mr Gardiner said.
“This free exchange is a chance for Carlton fans to play an active role in confronting the water problem. We can make a difference if we act together. If 80 people exchanged their showerheads, they would save enough water to fill an Olympic sized pool every year.”
If you are not a Carlton fan, you can visit City West Water’s website or call City West Water to find out where you can take part in the showerhead exchange programme.
Old showerheads will be recycled into scrap metal and proceeds will go to charity.
