Water conservation will be in vogue, when Poyntons of Essendon Nursery and City West Water host a ‘Water Saver Garden Party’ on 9 and 10 March.
The garden party will be a great way for avid green thumbs to explore acres of water saving products and plants, all on the banks of the Maribyrnong River.
Novice gardeners will also have the chance to pick up water wise gardening advice, with special guest speakers available to provide tips on irrigation systems, eco-friendly detergents, composting, water saving products and more.
Customers can also save water in the home too, with City West Water offering them the chance to swap their old showerhead for a three star, water efficient one for free when they bring along their old showerhead and City West Water bill.
Managing Director of City West Water, Anne Barker, said with stage 3A restrictions still in place until at least the end of June, the Water Saver Garden Party provided a great opportunity to pick up a few tips to keep gardens looking great.
“The Labour Day long weekend a popular time for gardening, and smart techniques like mulching help lock in soil moisture,” Ms Barker said.
“And we encourage people to save water indoors too. By changing their showerhead to a three star, water efficient model, households can save up to 13,500 litres per person every year.
“But water saving tips aren’t just available this weekend. As a Victorian Government accredited Water Saver Garden Centre, Poyntons can provide the latest advice on all aspects of water wise gardening year round.”
Marketing Manager for Poyntons, Andrea Shanahan, said the centre was really proud to be a Water Saver Garden Centre.
“Our staff are passionate gardeners that are committed to learning and putting practice myriad water saving techniques that they can share with customers,” Ms Shanahan said.
