Have you got a way with words? Are you inspired by water? City West Water is running a writing competition to celebrate National Water Week in October.
City West Water’s Managing Director, Anne Barker said National Water Week, which runs from 22 to 28 October, put the spotlight on protecting and conserving precious water resources.
“The Water Stories writing competition is a fantastic way to encourage young people to think creatively and be inspired by water,” Ms Barker said.
“We also want other members of the community to take time out from their busy lives to really think about the role water plays in our everyday lives.”
Entries can be a poem, short story or non fiction piece about water. The competition is open to anyone who lives or attends a school in the City West Water area and will be judged across four categories:
- Primary school students
- Secondary school students
- Contributors who have English as a second language
- Contributors from the general public
Winning entries will be published in a special booklet called ‘Water Stories’ and on the City West Water website. There are also some great prizes, including book vouchers, up for grabs.
“Ensuring we have enough water, not just now but for the future, is such an important priority for our community so we hope people will be inspired to get writing,” Ms Barker said.
Entries must be accompanied by an official entry form available here - http://www.citywestwater.com.au/education/education_competitions.htm -
and received by 26 October. They can be submitted via email to lkindler@citywestwater.com.au or posted to:
