Grab a Free Showerhead at Caroline Springs Square

7 May 2009

Caroline Springs residents looking to slash water use and hot water bills at home can take advantage of a free showerhead exchange at Caroline Springs Square.

City West Water Managing Director, Anne Barker, said residents can swap their old inefficient showerheads for a 3-star water saving one in a matter of minutes.

“Water is our most precious resource, and we all have a responsibility to save as much of it as we can inside the home and the shower is one of the biggest users of water at home,” Ms Barker said.

“With the State Government’s Target 155 campaign encouraging people to limit water use to 155 litres of water per person per day, a water efficient showerhead can make achieving that goal much easier.

“Older style showerheads can use between 15-20 litres of water per minute compared to a 3-star showerhead that uses only nine litres per minute, helping to slash hot water bills and save up to 13,500 litres of water per person per year.”

Ms Barker said that while many homes in the Caroline Springs area have been built with water-saving showerheads already installed, the showerhead exchange gives everyone the chance to make their shower water efficient.

“The showerhead exchange has been made as easy as possible – and to install the showerhead takes a matter of minutes.

“Residents only need to bring in their old showerhead to the Caroline Springs Square with their water bill to get a new water saving showerhead.”

City West Water customers have been a great supporter of the showerhead exchange program, with tens of thousands of showerheads swapped in recent years.

“I encourage everyone who hasn’t already done so to take advantage of the free showerhead and watch their water usage drop dramatically,” Ms Barker said.

The showerhead exchange is on site at Caroline Springs Square until 15 May.
