New Rebate a Hit with Water-Wise Customers

8 April 2009

City West Water customers have been quick to take advantage of the new autumn rebate on offer that saves $30 on water bills, and water consumption in the garden and home.

Since the offer was launched in early March, hundreds of customers have taken advantage of the offer in just four weeks, which simply requires households to spend $50 on one or more eligible water saving products to claim a rebate of $30 off their water bill.

Managing Director Anne Barker said she was pleased to see such an enthusiastic response to the offer which helps householders save water and achieve the personal daily usage target of 155 litres.

“It’s encouraging that so many of our customers recognise the importance of water conservation and making the most of this offer which requires just a $20 investment to achieve significant water savings,” Ms Barker said.

“As the cooler weather sets in, this is a great time of year to take stock of how houses and gardens coped with the summer just gone, and what measures can be taken to reduce consumption now and into the warmer months at the end of the year.

“Hundreds of customers have already made the smart move by purchasing water saving devices and claiming the rebate – and we’re asking all of our customers to take similar action and identify new ways of saving water.”

Ms Barker said the overwhelming majority of customers could buy at least one water saving item to suit their needs and save water straight away.

“Eligible products include mulch, compost/mulch bins, trigger nozzles, drip watering systems, garden tap timers, temporary greywater diverters, wetting/moisture agents, shower timers, flow interrupters for toilets and waterless car cleaning products.”

“It’s a simple mathematical equation – spend at least $50 on a range of water saving items and receive $30 off your next water bill.”

Ms Barker said water saving items used in and around the home are an easy way to achieve the Target155.

“Increasing the uptake of water saving devices in the garden or inside the home creates good water saving habits which make Target155 easier to achieve each day.”

In addition to the new rebate, the Water Smart Gardens and Homes Rebate Scheme includes:

  • Up to $1000 for installing a large rainwater tank
  • $500 for an approved greywater system
  • $150 for a hot water recirculator

Households can also exchange their old showerhead for a three-star water efficient model for free with their local water business.

To claim a rebate, including the special autumn rebate offer, customers should complete and submit a claim form to City West Water with original receipts, and rebates are then deducted from water bills. The current rebate is on offer until 31 May 2009
