City West Water customers can flush their way to water savings with a new subsidised toilet replacement program that can slash household water use for as little as $334.
City West Water is offering householders the opportunity to replace their single flush toilet with a new water efficient dual flush toilet at a heavily subsidised rate.
City West Water Managing Director Anne Barker said the toilet replacement program aims to upgrade 3000 single flush toilets and offers a choice of three 4-star rated water efficient dual flush models.
“This program can help save up to 90 litres of water a day per household, and represents a cost effective way to further cut water consumption and keep water use under Target 155,” Ms Barker said
“Toilets use up to 14% of water in the home and remain one of the greatest domestic water users, and this program will help householders significantly reduce the water wasted with every flush of an inefficient toilet,” Ms Barker said.
Ms Barker said installation of the toilets, being undertaken by Schultz Plumbing, is backed by a seven year workmanship warranty.
“The toilet replacement program is simple - householders just need to choose from three toilet models and the plumbing contractor will take care of the rest for a guaranteed price.”
The 4 star rated (4.5/ 3 litre) dual flush toilets are made in Australia by Caroma and come with a 10 year manufacturer’s warranty
The already reduced cost of the replacement program is further minimised through the Victorian Government’s $50 Water Smart Gardens and Homes rebate. The rebates are applied upfront at the time of purchase, meaning an easy process for customers.
“It makes sense to make the most of this offer – older style toilets can use up to 14 litres of water per flush, whereas a half-flush uses only three litres,” Ms Barker said.
“By switching from one flush to two, householders can save money and up to 35,000 litres of water every year.”
