Incident and Crisis Management
Incident management is an important component of our business and we have extensive plans and processes in place to address potential issues. The central components of these systems are our Incident and Crisis Management Plan, Business Continuity Plan and a series of Metropolitan Water Industry Response Plans.
Our approach to incident management is consistent with recognised standards and uses the four key principles of prevention, preparedness, response and recovery in our approach. We regularly review and test plans both internally and with the assistance of external consultants.
We recently conducted a desktop exercise of the Incident and Crisis Management Plan and the Business Continuity Plan as part of our preparations for the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games. The testing of our plans, our extensive preparation, together with availability of resources ensured no significant disruptions occurred during the Games. We also have a comprehensive incident roster that enables us to effectively manage incidents 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Declared incidents are managed in our on-site Incident and Crisis Facility whenever it is appropriate.
