Our Committees

We have three committees that assist us with stakeholders and customers views and expectations of our business. We thank all these committee members for their valuable feedback and attendance during 2005-06.

Our Customer and Community Engagement Committee

Our Customer and Community Engagement Committee focuses on the customer-related activities of our business. It aims to provide feedback and a customer perspective on our programs and activities.

We currently have 12 external members, including residential and industrial customers as well as representatives from community groups and local government. Four City West Water staff are also involved with the committee.

The committee met four times in 2005–06. During the year Committee members were invited to take part in a City West Water information session on the Central Region Sustainable Water Strategy and were encouraged to submit their feedback and suggestions on this strategy.  Click here for more information on this strategy.

Our Community Liaison Committee

Our Community Liaison Committee provides a forum for us to receive feedback on environmental issues of importance to us and to the community.  It helps to enhance our responsiveness to the community’s environmental expectations and allows the community to monitor and provide feedback on our environmental and sustainability performance.

The committee was first established in 1996 and in 2005-06 we celebrated our 50th meeting.  We currently have 18 external members including representatives of the local community, education sector, local government and industry.

Five meetings were conducted during 2005-06.  A highlight of the year was the committee’s contribution to the review and development of new environmental objectives and targets for the future.

Altona Treatment Plant Community Liaison Sub-Committee

The Altona Treatment Plant Community Liaison Committee is City West Water’s forum for local community representatives to provide input on environmental and business issues specific to the Altona Treatment Plant.

The Committee meets regularly to ensure that community views are considered in the upgrade and operation of the plant, including works to improve the landscape surrounding the plant.

Consultation on the Sustainability Report

The Customer and Community Engagement Committee and various stakeholders including local council, water authorities, businesses and universities were involved in the consultation process for this year’s Sustainability Report. Consultation sessions were held with all groups in May 2006 and the feedback received has been incorporated into the direction and planning for this report.
