Environment Management System Certification

We have a certified ISO14001 Environment Management System (EMS).  The objective of ISO14001 EMS is to support environmental protection and the prevention of pollution in balance with socio-economic needs.  The ISO14001 EMS sets a continual improvement framework to efficiently identify, manage and reduce our impact on the environment.

In March 2006, SAI Global, an independent body, conducted a triennial recertification audit on our EMS to ensure that we met the requirements of the recently revised ISO14001:2004 standard.  No non-conformances were identified and the auditor recommended that we maintain our ISO14001 certification.

During 2005-06, to help achieve our recertification, we revised our Environmental Policy, Aspects and Impacts (Environmental Risk) Register and commenced the development of new objectives and targets for the 2006-08 Environment Improvement Plan.
