Cleaner Production Program

In 2004, we developed our Cleaner Production Program, in partnership with the EPA Victoria in response to the Victorian Government’s target to increase water recycling. The reduction of total dissolved solids (salt) in trade waste is also a Sustainability Indicator and can be viewed here.

Our customers are continuing to show significant reductions in their drinking water use and salt discharged to sewer. Current water usage patterns show a decrease of 7,000 million litres of drinking water per year and 45.6 tonnes per day of salt discharged to sewer since 2003.

These reductions result from process changes, plant improvements and changes in behaviour reflecting the effectiveness of the program and support provided by the Cleaner Production Team.
